Title A name given to the resource Letter from Mervyn Dymally to the editor of The California Journal, 1975 Subject The topic of the resource Health Care Dymally, Mervyn M., 1926-2012 Description An account of the resource In this letter, Dymally defends his reputation and disputes his involvement in a private company gaining a public health plan for Medi-Cal recipients. Dymally faced harassment in the form of unsubstantiated claims of corruption and supposedly impending indictments of crimes several times throughout his career. While no charges were ever brought against him, he suspected one such incident may have cost him the reelection to Lt. Governor. His opponent Mike Curb accused him of criminal behavior in San Bernardino and Santa Clara Counties. The accusations caused a scandal, but no charges were brought. Barr, Congressman Dymally writes about the murder two Samoan brothers from Compton, California. Pouvi (34) and Italia (22) Tualaulelei who were killed at the hands of LAPD officer Alfred Skiles. Skiles was said to have put 8 bullets in the back of Pouvi and 5 shots in the back of Italia and proceeded to finish them both off. After the incident, there was a massive outcry from the community and Dymally urges Attorney General Barr in this letter to finally bring justice to the unresolved case and to the Tualaulelei family.
